From the Chair-

This is absolutely my last message before the 2017 Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race commences!

I really just want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your patience and your cooperation throughout the year. It’s been a learning year for everyone especially with the introduction of ORR-EZ.  You’ve allowed me to expand my skill sets and made me stretch outside my comfort zone (way, way outside my comfort zone ) and I thank you for that gift as well.

I have a favor to ask of you - as you know, we have a new finish line trailer which is white, white, white and hopefully much more visible from the water than the prior beige/blue trailer.  If you’re finishing during the darkness of the night and if possible, can you ask one of your crewmembers to take a picture of the trailer from the finish line area, please?  Since we can’t see the trailer from your perspective on the water, it would be very much appreciated.  I understand there is a lot of ambient light in the background, especially at night, making it difficult to see the orange finish line shape. We’d like to see the lighting from your pictures which in turn would help us better understand the ambient lighting.  You can send the pictures to mackchair@byc.com along with your name and the name of your boat.

So that’s it – I’ll see you all on the island! Please don’t hesitate to stop me in Port Huron or on the Island to say hello and in the meantime, ‘Be Safe, Have Fun, Sail Fast!’
