Learn from some of Bayview’s best! A panel discussion was held, during which proven winners of both the Bayview Mackinac Race and the Chicago Mackinac Race answered questions regarding what it takes to win. The panel included Greg Thomas (Pendragon), Tim Prophit (Fast Tango), Chuck Stormes (DeTour), Mike Kirkman (Hot Ticket), and Chris Van Tol (Eliminator).

A few housekeeping items for Boat Owners:

Harbor Preference

We will not limit entries, but dockage is limited. Priority will be given based on entry fee payment. We assume everyone’s priority will be Mackinac Island; however, some boat owners may prefer St. Ignace or Mackinaw City.

To indicate your harbor preference, please log in to your owner’s record on the official website,, and first indicate whether you require dockage. Then, select your first, second, and third dockage choices if you do. We will do our best to provide dockage based on your preference.

Finish Line Sound Signal/Cell Phone Provider

We have heard concerns about not having a sound signal at the finish line. We researched alternative options because we haven’t had a finish sound signal in three years. After determining that our alternatives were not feasible, I am pleased to announce that we will text the boat owner upon finishing.

This will not be used for official scoring purposes, nor does it change the provision for requiring a photo of the boat’s GPS showing the time and location demonstrating compliance with crossing the finish in the Sailing Instructions.

To receive a text, please access your owner’s record page and click “Update Entry Profile.” Next to “Mobile Phone,” you will see a new box to select your “Mobile Carrier.”

ORC Certificate

US Sailing Offshore is now accepting ORC Certificate applications. If you have a spring measurement scheduled or a sail on order that has not been delivered yet, please apply for your certificate today! Putting in your application early puts your boat on US Sailing’s radar and keeps everyone informed of the data in the pipeline during the busy racing season.

Every boat must have a valid certificate to participate. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the US Sailing Offshore Team at or 401-342-7953.

On Island Crew Dinner Reservations We expect the island to be at capacity with a record number of boats participating. We also anticipate that restaurants will be very busy. I want to encourage those who typically do crew dinners on the island to secure reservations. Mission Point has some exceptional restaurants, and reservations are recommended.

Still Need Crew?

Many good candidates are listed on the crew finder page! It is no surprise that many people want to do this race.

The Super Mac is back for 2024!

We have 24 entries in the 2024 Super Mac!

Power will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sailing Instructions will be posted by July 1st.

Mark your calendars! The 2025 SuperMac will start in Port Huron and finish in Chicago to celebrate 150 years of the Chicago Yacht Club!
