Race Chair Communication #11
Competitor Reminder:
I really dislike sending reminders like this. Since Sailing is a Corinthian sport, I assume owners and PICs push the rules but ultimately follow them. Last week we sent out a notice reminding competitors that boats must sail in the configuration they are rated in. This includes crew weight. We have a 35’ boat that has almost 1000 lbs. more crew than declared on their rating certificate. A competitor can NOT declare a low crew weight to get a lower rating and then sail at more than 2x that declared weight.
Sailing out of your declared configuration, even accidentally, is cheating and against the Corinthian nature of yacht racing.
