July 13, 2023 Competitors –
I want to bring some notable changes from last year’s Race to your attention:
RRS 41(c) applies. Please see NOR Amendment #5 for guidance.
As applicable, each boat, at the time of passing between the Virtual Cove Island Gate, shall take a photograph of the boat’s clock and primary navigation GPS clearly showing the time and location and demonstrating compliance with passing between the gate.
Each boat, at the time of crossing the Finish, shall take a photograph of the boat’s primary navigation GPS clearly showing the time and location and demonstrating compliance with crossing the Finish.
A boat’s position transponder: (i) shall not be used as the boat’s primary navigation GPS and/or system, and (ii) should not be used for navigational purposes.
All boats are required to fill out and sign a Start & Finish card and, as applicable, a Virtual Cove Island Gate card, and a representative from each boat is required to turn in the card(s) at the Skipper Check-In Desk at the Chippewa Hotel. The cards have been printed on bright yellow card stock and will be included in the skipper’s packet issued at registration.
The planned hours of operation for the Skipper Check-In Desk at the Chippewa Hotel are as follows: Sunday, July 16 from 1800 until 2100 hours Monday, July 17 from 0800 until 2100 hours Tuesday, July 18 from 0800 until 1200 hours
The finishing line will be between the Southeast corner of the Round Island Lighthouse located on the westerly tip of Round Island, whose coordinates are 45°50.234 N and 084°37.012 W, and a point on Mackinac Island, whose coordinates are 45°50.765 N and 084°37.105 W. The Round Island Light House will bear 180° magnetic upon finishing.
The Mackinac State Harbor is designated a Clean Marina facility. As such, no fueling is allowed from portable containers, and no full fuel cans are allowed on the dock. All fuel fill-ups shall be done at a designated marine fueling station.
That said, please:
read the NOR (yes, the entire document);
read the SIs (yes, the entire document); and,
read all amendments to the NOR and SIs (yes, all of them).
I would also like to thank South Bay Supply for sponsoring the Island Awards Party Band and Precision Garage Door for providing competitor hats.
I look forward to seeing you all out on the course.
